JEEVES ENHANCES SERVICES AT LEONARDO HOTELS’ NEW BRAND NYX HOTELS

München, 1. September 2020. The corona pandemic has sparked a demand for service robot colleagues. These autonomous electronic assistants make it easy to maintain social distancing rules and provide even greater safety thanks to smart technology. Like JEEVES, who today returns to work as a service robot at the NYX Hotel Munich on Hoffmannstraße. The friendly robot is controlled by an app or the telephone in the room. As a rule, the 1.20-metre minibar butler needs only five minutes to arrive at the guest’s door and deliver drinks and snacks. The chilled drawers can be opened using an anti-microbial touchscreen. JEEVES is so popular that some guests call him mainly to take that perfect selfie. This useful robot was named after the legendary character invented by British-American author P.G. Wodehouse. “Jeeves” was the quintessential butler who anticipated his master’s every wish.

“Our robot colleague Jeeves is the perfect addition to our team. He exudes a sense of fun as he cruises through the corridors – and he frees up our staff so that they can devote themselves wholly to our guests”, says Jacolien Benes, General Manager of NYX Hotel Munich.

In order for Jeeves to navigate his surroundings smoothly, all the corridors had to be measured and strips applied to the glass doors, “apart from those minor tweaks we didn’t have to change anything”, Benes says. The only challenge was the elevators. In conjunction with developer Robotise, the hotel has implemented a cloud-based solution for JEEVES to call the elevators. Communication with his human colleagues also works perfectly: after returning to his docking station in the lobby, JEEVES sends an email to the front desk with information about which items each guest has removed from the chilled drawers. These items are added to the room bill. In the course of the evening, JEEVES is restocked. And guests who fancy a hot burger can have it delivered to their room from the Hans im Glück burger bar on the ground floor by JEEVES until 11 pm.

As a premium lifestyle brand, NYX Hotels by Leonardo Hotels stand for a new generation of hotels. With their incomparable mix of design, art and their staff – the City Lovers – the chain is conquering the European hotel market. The hotels’ interiors are characterised by urban chic and casual coolness – and a service robot like Jeeves is a perfect match for this lifestyle ambience.
